Michael Jackson is suffering from a rare lung condition and needs to undergo an emergency transplant operation

Michael Jackson is suffering from a rare lung condition and needs to undergo an emergency transplant operation, according to a report that continues to gain steam. And his normally outspoken publicist hasn't denied the allegations. The King of Pop may even be fighting for his life, New York Times bestselling biographer Ian Halperin tells In Touch magazine and Britain's Sunday Express newspaper.
Halperin, author of such tomes as "Love & Death: The Murder of Kurt Cobain" and "Stalking Britney: Under Siege With Britney Spears," says Jackson has been diagnosed with Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, an occasionally fatal genetic condition."He's had it for years but it's gotten worse," Halperin told In Touch. "He needs a lung transplant but may be too weak to go through with it. He also has emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, which his doctors have had a lot of trouble stopping. It's the bleeding that is the most problematic part. It could kill him."According to Halperin, Jackson "can barely speak" and is having trouble seeing: "The vision in his left eye is 95 percent gone."Jackson, who has lived largely out the public eye in recent years, shocked fans in July when he was photographed in wheelchair. The 50-year-old also received help walking when stepped out in Los Angeles earlier this month wearing a Zorro-style face mask.Jackson's rep was unavailable for comment Sunday, but the singer's brother Jermaine didn't deny the reports, telling Fox News, "He's not doing so well right now. This isn't a good time."

Steven Hilton confronted two intruders in his Malibu Hills home

Steven Hilton confronted two intruders in his Malibu Hills home earlier this week, police said on Wednesday, just days after the home of his celebrity niece, Paris Hilton, was broken into. The apparent robbery attempt was reported in an emergency 911 call placed by Steven Hilton on Monday, according to Sergeant Janice Benning of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. "Two people entered his home" but Hilton escaped from the intruders, she said. "He got away and he called 911, and while he was calling 911, they got away." Benning added that detectives were still investigating the incident. "They didn't take anything," she said. Hilton oversees an annual grant-making budget of more than $40 million as chairperson and CEO of a charitable group formed by his grandfather, Conrad, founder of the Hilton Hotels empire. Steven Hilton's father, Barron Hilton, announced plans a year ago to donate the bulk of his own $2.3bn fortune to charity through the Conrad N Hilton Foundation. Foundation spokesperson Barbara Casey said Steven Hilton's modest-looking house was tucked away at a "rather obscure location" of the rugged hills above the Malibu coast northwest of Los Angeles and accessible from a single private road. "It would sound like somebody had to know it was his house to go there," she told Reuters. "You wouldn't just stumble on it." Sergeant Benning said she did not know whether detectives suspected any connection between Monday's incident at Steven Hilton's home and the burglary of the Los Angeles mansion of his niece, celebrity socialite Paris Hilton. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and gloves forced his way into her home early on Friday morning, ransacked her bedroom and made off with some of her belongings. The Los Angeles Times reported an estimated $2 million worth of jewellery was stolen.
No arrests have been made in either case, officials said.

Manuel Benitez, former child actor killed by police after a two-hour standoff

former child actor killed by police after a two-hour standoff as he held his 7-year-old son hostage in a restaurant was a suspect wanted for the 2004 murder of his girlfriend, authorities said Wednesday. The boy was wounded. The man killed was 38-year-old Manuel Benitez, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement. Police were searching for his mother, who may have been traveling with him. Authorities had been seeking Benitez since the slaying of Stephanie Spears in Hawthorne more than four years ago. She had been beaten to death with a dumbbell.
Benitez had a son with Spears, named Benjamin, and the child had not been seen since Spears' death, according to Benitez' fugitive profile on the FBI Web site.
Benjamin suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh in Tuesday's standoff in suburban El Monte but was expected to survive, said sheriff's Lt. Liam Gallagher. He would not say who shot the boy.
Benitez was charged with murder and a California warrant was issued for his arrest in May 2005, the FBI Web site said. A federal warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was issued in March 2006. The FBI had offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
El Monte police Detective Ralph Batres said the standoff began after an officer noticed a man take a boy off the sidewalk and head to a Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. Benitez ignored the officer's orders to stop and barricaded himself inside, Batres said. Police said Benitez, who wore a camouflage jacket and had two handguns, held the boy hostage in a back room of the restaurant. Gallagher said Benitez told police during negotiations that he was going to shoot police and harm the child. Police closed nearby streets and shoppers were evacuated from neighboring stores as dozens of officers and emergency crews surrounded the restaurant.
Benitez was declared dead after police threw a flash-bang grenade into the restaurant and exchanged gunfire with him, Gallagher said. The sheriff's statement said detectives were seeking the public's help in finding his mother, Elizabeth Velasco, who authorities believed may have been traveling with Benitez.
The FBI Web site said Benitez, who was featured on "America's Most Wanted" earlier this year, had been a child actor who used the name Mark Everett, one of several Benitez aliases listed in the sheriff's department statement.

As child actor Mark Everett, Benitez had small parts in the television shows "Highway to Heaven" and "Trapper John, MD," and the movies "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" and "Stand and Deliver," according to the FBI and The Internet Movie Database Web site. The sheriff's statement said Benitez also went by the names Mike Evers and Manuel Velasco. El Monte is a city of about 116,000 people 13 miles east of Los Angeles.

boyfriend of Miss Sinaloa Laura Zuniga is Angel Orlando Garcia Urquiza, a top operative in the Ciudad Juarez-based cartel

Laura Zuniga was arrested with alleged gang members in a truck of guns and amo at a military checkpoint in Zapopan, near Guadalajara.
Laura was in one of two trucks. Another man arrested is her brother, an alleged drug trafficker.Reports AP: “Zuniga told police that she was planning on traveling to Bolivia and Colombia with the men to go shopping”.In July she became Miss Sinaloa, in October Miss Hispanoamerican Queen, in September third in Nuestra Belleza Mexico, and was scheduled to appear for Mexico in the 2009 Miss International contest.Mexican beauty queen arrested in a truck filled with weapons was dating a suspected leader in the powerful Juarez drug cartel, police said Wednesday.
The boyfriend of Miss Sinaloa Laura Zuniga is Angel Orlando Garcia Urquiza, a top operative in the Ciudad Juarez-based cartel, which at one point was considered Mexico's largest drug ring, said Jalisco Public Security Secretary Luis Carlos Najera. The couple was traveling with six alleged bodyguards in Zapopan, outside the colonial city of Guadalajara, when soldiers stopped their two trucks at a military checkpoint on Monday, police said.Inside, authorities found a large stash of weapons, ammunition and $53,300 in U.S. currency.

The alleged relationship between Garcia and Mexico's well-known reigning beauty queen shows how deep powerful drug gangs have penetrated society, stretching well beyond bribing police and officials.

Mexican media report that traffickers with their visible wealth often have their pick of women in states like Sinaloa, where Zuniga is from and the home of the cartel of the same name. The popular musical genre "Narco-corridos" glorifies traffickers' exploits and gangs often have prefered bands who play their private parties. A number of Mexican musicians linked to cartels have been murdered in recent years.
Zuniga won the Miss Sinaloa pageant this year. She placed third in the Miss Mexico contest, whose winner competes for the Miss Universe title, and was crowned Miss HispanoAmericana, beating out contestants across Latin America.
She was expected to represent Mexico in an international contest in January.
Pageant organizers say they are awaiting the results of the investigation before deciding whether to strip her of her crowns.
Garcia's brother, Ricardo, was arrested in 2005 and police said he was responsible for 20 percent of Mexican narcotics sold on U.S. streets at the time. He reportedly earned nearly $1 billion a month smuggling Colombian cocaine and marijuana into the United states through corridors near Ciudad Juarez, which lies across the border from El Paso, Texas.
The Juarez Cartel was considered the country's largest drug ring under the leadership of Amado Carrillo Fuentes, known as "Lord of the Skies" because the gang flew planes packed with cocaine directly into U.S. territory.

Carrillo died in 1997 from botched plastic surgery to alter his appearance and investigators say control of the cartel fell to his brother, Vicente.

The gang split in 2004 after other powerful smugglers tried to move in on its trade, and Vicente, fearing for his life, went into hiding. In his absence, according to federal prosecutors, Ricardo Garcia Urquiza took control of a faction after forging contacts with Colombian drug producers while studying to become a surgeon.
After being arrested, Zuniga told police they were planning on traveling to Bolivia and Colombia to go shopping.Zuniga's father, Jesus Esteban Zuniga, said her daughter had told him she was going to a Christmas party in Guadalajara. He told The Associated Press that he does not believe his daughter is involved in drug trafficking."She's a good daughter," he said. "She's always focused on her work and she's had a spotless reputation ... until now."
