As any author will testify, writing can be a lonely business. James Robinson, the biographer of David Cameron’s cat Larry, relieves the tedium of working from home by spending some time on the internet.
Robinson, who is engaged to the glamorous shadow minister for crime prevention, Gloria de Piero, is a regular user of Twitter. On Tuesday, he posted a message to his followers on the social-networking website that was most revealing, albeit not in the way he intended.
“Blimey,” said The Guardian's former media correspondent. “Leveson inquiry cost more than £2.8m so far.” He then appended a link to a website.
However, the website had nothing to do with Lord Justice Leveson and everything to do with pornography. It was Babe Video, which features recordings from “adult” television channels.
Hopefully, De Piero, a former GMTV presenter, will be forgiving. After all, she posed for topless photographs as a 16-year-old schoolgirl. “It was simply that I needed some money to buy clothes,” she said. “My parents went a lot less mental than I thought they would.”
