Igor Olenicoff, a Newport Beach billionaire real estate mogul, has added racketeering charges to his $500 million lawsuit against Swiss banking giant

Igor Olenicoff, a Newport Beach billionaire real estate mogul, has added racketeering charges to his $500 million lawsuit against Swiss banking giant UBS AG and individuals who sold what he claims were overseas investments falsely billed as tax-free accounts.Olenicoff, founder of the Newport Beach commercial real estate firm Olen Properties, agreed in December 2007 to pay federal authorities $52 million in taxes and penalties after pleading guilty to criminal tax evasion charges.
In September, he filed suit against UBS but added more details to his allegations, including the racketeering charge, in an amended complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana on Jan. 9.The suit names UBS AG, four other companies and 25 individuals as defendants in a scheme that “robbed” Olenicoff of millions of dollars through charging fees or simply pocketing his money, while also exposing him to criminal charges and causing his company to lose more than $100 million in business.
Olenicoff’s attorney, William J. King, said the lawsuit seeks to penalize the financiers who targeted more than 19,000 wealthy investors with a scheme that enriched only the money handlers.“The issue isn’t his tax penalties,” King said of Olenicoff. “It’s that he thought he was doing something legal from a tax perspective and he trusted their advice and they were stealing from him.”

Britain’s biggest comedy exports, Borat star Sasha Baron Cohen, and The Office creator Ricky Gervais, questionably tasteless jokes caused boos

“I told you, do a Holocaust movie and the awards come, didn’t I?” he quipped.
The joke reflected Winslet’s caricatured portrayal of herself in the Extras episode, where she mentioned the only way to win an Oscar was to act in a holocaust movie, or portray a disabled person.
Britain’s biggest comedy exports, Borat star Sasha Baron Cohen, and The Office creator Ricky Gervais, have raised eyebrows at this years Golden Globes – a slew of questionably tasteless jokes caused the crowd to groan and boo.Contrasting the lauding of national counterpart Kate Winslet, who took home two Globes for her performances in The Reader and The Revolutionary Road, Gervais and Baron-Cohen’s on-stage antics were met with an awkward response.Taking the stage to preview the film Happy-Go-Lucky, Gervais made mention of Winslet’s performance in his own show, Extras.

“Trouble is with Holocaust films is there’s never any gag reel on the DVDs.” He continued to a murmur and spattered laughs. While the gags landed a little flat, they stayed true to the awkward and offensive comedy style that Gervais is famous for.
With the audience recoiling from the first wave of bad-taste, the next onslaught came from Ali G star Sasha Baron Cohen.Baron-Cohen, who is also well known for his provocative and controversial comedy, took a range of offensive pot shots at prominent celebrities.‘This recession is affecting everyone, even celebrities,’ he said. ‘Victoria Beckham hasn’t eaten for three weeks. Charlie Sheen has been forced to have sex without paying for it, it’s true.’The crowd didn’t seem to take to Baron-Cohen’s gags, but that didn’t deter him.‘Even Madonna has had to get rid of one of her personal assistants. Our thoughts go out to you Guy Ritchie.’Cuts to the crowd showed a range of celebrities politely smiling at the jokes, but the mood on the floor was said to be rather icy. It’s unsure if the damage done at the ceremony will have any effect on the comedian’s upcoming offerings – Baron-Cohen’s third prank comedy film, Bruno, and Gervais’s This Side Of Truth are set for release later this year.

Charles Barkley legally drunk after he was arrested on New Year’s Eve in Scottsdale, Arizona on suspicion of drunk driving.

former NBA star Charles Barkley is taking time off. Barkley, a studio analyst for the pre-game and half-time telecasts of TNT since the year 2000, is expected to take a leave of absence for a few weeks — exactly how long is still uncertain. This announcement was made in the wake of the release of police results that declared Barkley legally drunk after he was arrested on New Year’s Eve in Scottsdale, Arizona on suspicion of drunk driving. It is reported that Charles Barkley was stopped by a police officer for failing to correctly acknowledge a stop sign after leaving a popular night club. He failed field sobriety tests, and while it is said that he was cooperative at the scene, there were also reports that he initially refused to submit to a blood test.Even if the reported refusal on Barkley’s part had been true, this wouldn’t have taken him off the hook as even a suspect who passed field sobriety tests may be charged with a DUI if he does not submit to testing that is asked of him. According to the police, Charles Barkley’s blood alcohol level was at 0.149 which was significantly above the Arizona legal limit of 0.08.Barkley has already issued a statement expressing his apologies as well as his personal disappointment in having been caught in this predicament. This situation was actually played out all throughout America during the holidays – it certainly becomes a big issue when a celebrity is involved. This serves as another reminder about the importance of moderation in everything that we do, no matter what the occasion may be.

David Levy, president of Turner Records, has issued a statement still expressing support for Barkley.

Jason Gardiner apparently "got into trouble" after his cheeky language on Dancing On Ice.

The 37-year-old admitted he got a telling off after telling celebrity skater Todd Carty he looked and moved "like you have cr****d yourself", reports the Daily Mirror. "I got into trouble," the choreographer and singer confessed on This Morning.
