Paul Gascoigne will not face charges after he was held on suspicion of possessing a class A drug.

The Crown Prosecution Service yesterday said it would take no action against the former England football star, 44, “on evidential grounds”.

Another man, 43, is still on bail after the incident, which happened last October in Burradon, Tyneside.

Last week, Gazza had a bankruptcy case dismissed at the High Court over a £32,000 tax bill.
